Following on
We started with the cathedral fig tree, which is too amazing to describe properly, so i'll wait until i can show you pictures to go along with it
From here we went to some of the crater lakes, and on to lake eacham for lunch and a swim, and this was where my afternoon chats with bart (the tour guide) about cricket started. The water here was so warm it was unreal! We were diving into it from 2 metre platforms (it was 3 metres deep) more than we were actually staying in the water, but ah well, wicked fun!
From lake eacham we headed to millaa millaa falls (if you don't know these remember the timotei advert with the girl flicking her hair out of the water? Or the peter andre video for 'Mysterious girl'.... Eurgh, anyway it was there) and what bart failed to tell us was that the water was so effing cold we spent the next hour defrosting! So worth it though, just to swim under the fall. From here we hopped back on the bus to 'The crater' and the dinner falls, the crater again can't really describe it without pictures so that can wait, but the dinner falls are a set of falls instead of one big one. And guess what, the water was even colder here, and only 3 of us braved it, and you could spot us afterwards, the 3 blue guys struggling to breathe.... Again, worth it!
That night i met up with james from my surf trip again for a few drinks in cairns, a really nice relaxed evening before my flight to melbourne.
When i arrived in melbourne the weather had been so bad that day that melbourne effectuively stopped for a few hours, so i went to the pub (as you do) with two of the girls from my room, an evening of laughing and chatting again so that was nice. The next day i did my customary 'I'm gonna just wander round and see what i can do' Which created lot's of things, i saw the mcg and the rod laver arena (australian open venue) and did the gardens and the like, and on my return to federation square i saw one of the funniest street performers ever, so i went to see his stand up show at the meblbourne international comedy festival that night, he wasn;t as funny aas he was on the street but still hillarious! Day 2 in melbourne i met up with gus and justin for a few drinks, a couple of hours of cricket talk and making fun of normo was a wicked way to spend an afternoon. My last day in melbourne was full of museums and galleries, awesome but not a lot to write about, and thne i embarked on a 10 hour train journey overnight, which sucked because i can't sleep on trains so i read an entire book and didn't sleep, so i slept all day in sydney instead :P
And now i'm here, preparing to leave, so not much point writing about that
See you all in a few hours!

An even longer delay that last time...
And that's basically because i've been so busy i've hardly used a computer!
But anyway, when i left you last i was just about to head to brisbane, so let's get back to the 'Action'
Well, what is there to say about brisbane? Not a lot, one of the nicest cities i've been to, was an really lovely place, but there's really not a lot to actually do in brisbane as a tourist, although let's be honest, after the week i had on surf camp having 3 days to chill out was fine by me. I spent all of my days in brisbane just wandering and exploring the town, with quite a few hours down at the artificial beach on the south bank. On my last night i met up with some of the guys from surf camp who were all in town as well, we had a grand time, but very chilled out compared to previous outings. Plenty of drinks and music and singing and laughing, what more could you want? The next morning i headed for the airport and set off for airlie beach
Now, airlie beach itself has no real beach, there's some rocks that lead into the sea which you can't swim in because of the deadly jellyfish.... So yet again, an artificial lagoon was exploited for all it's worth (there's literally nothing else to do in that town). On on of the days (day before my whitsundays trip) i bumped into james and hans from my surf trip, completely unexpectedly. So another day was spent by the lagoon, but i had company!
The day of the whitsunday trip arrived and we had to meet at stupid o'clock so that we could actually see the islands as well as do the sailing. So we set off from the harbour and after about 45 mins of using the motor we got the sails up, and literally we, with some help from the crew, but me and 2 others did most of the work, they just tied everything up and made sure we'd done it right, which was awesome considering it was a proper ocean racing yacht. The sailing was rough on the first morning, we were dropping down metere and a half swells and went sub-marine a couple of times, but we got there quick! From our spot in the bay we took the dingy to the lookout of whitehaven beach. Which was incredible, 99.8% silica sand, which is white and more like salt than sand, so weird! From out bay we motored out to our spot for the night which was a hell of a lot more relaxed than the morning, the swell had just dissapeared along with the wind so a very leisurly trip was had by all enjoying the sun. And when we arrived the best surprise ever, the biggest tray of nachos you have ever seen in your life, there were so many chips our cook had to layer chips and cheese before the salsa and other things even started, sufficiently gorged and relaxed after watching the sunset, the cook announces that dinner is ready and we all go to eat even though we thought the nachos was dinner and have all eaten way to much already. The night unfolded into lot's of beers and laughter, and it was histerical as well, as one of the crew was sat with us trying to tell the nastiest jokes he could think of and we were all at it before long, crying with laughter. Once everything calmed down we realised how many stars were out being so far away from everything, it was incredible, i've never seen that many and we just layed there watching for a couple of hours, awesome.
The next morning we all woke up and watched sunrise before breakfast and we set off to our snorkling spots. Now unfortunately i've always had a problem with snorkling, dunno why, i managed to get myself out on the dingy and was really up for it, but couldn't bring myself to jump in, so missed out (not that it was a problem later in the trip) but was told it was urky and not a lot could be seen. Once we'd had a days snorkling under our belts it was back to land and as it was so calm it was the most relaxed sailing ever, took about 4 hours but we hardly noticed that we were moving. Once back on land we all stood around swaying even though the land was solid, looking like idiots we set back for the town and enjoyed fish an chips by the lagoon until the sun went down. Very pleasant indeed!
So that was that day, luckily my next was more eventful. We set off from cairns marina on the boat 'Ocean Freedom' to go and dive/snorkel the great barrier reef, ss we were boarding the boat however i recognised some voices, and it was ben and kim from my whitsundays boat! Such a small world because we'd agreed to meet up after our barrier reef trips later in the day, turns out we were on the same one :P. Now this time i acctually managed to go snorkelling and have never had that much fun in water. The sea was incredible, it was crystal clear and 28 degrees, which would be a warm air temperature in the uk! We started snorkelling at 'The Wonderwall' and spent about 2/3 hours snorkling around, and the only way i can describe it is that if you think finding nemo is too colourful etc to be realistic, think again, it's actually like that :P We then had lunch and head for 'Upolo Cay' which is a tiny sandy island that pops out of the the sea at low tide. Here was where the interesting stuff happened, it was here i literally found nemo and others saw rays and sharks and turtles and we could have spent days in there, but unfortunately after a few hours we had to head back, but not before a impromptu game of "let's jump of the back of the back of the boat in ridiculous ways because we can" and we did :P
That night we all went out for dinner and drinks and had a ball.
Now, i still have the rainforest and melbourne to write about but my internet time is about over, so i'll have to leave it here for now, but soon you'll have the news, bye for now!

A long time, and a lot to tell!
After the game the club gathered at epping oval for the running of the gift and end of season player awards and BBQ. The gift (for those that don't know) is a 60M running race in which every team races in it's own heat and the top 3 progress to the final. Now unfortunately there was no final as rain interuppted but i came joint 4th in my heat and came in close 3rd in the "I weigh 100kg+ so am allowed to run in a special race to make people laugh" Race, haha. A brilliant night of meat and laughter was had by all and it was a thoroughly enjoyable way to wish my farewells to the lads
On the sunday (15th) i headed south of sydney along the coast raod to wollongong with karen. The weather was perfect and the drive was awesome, amazing views along the coast from up on the cliffs. We alos stopped for lunch in wollongong and ended up staying there for 2 hours watching a volleyball game, haha. Was a really nice relaxing day before the antics that lay ahead....
An early start as we arrived at 7am outside the Wake Up! hostel in sydney looking at our black and brilliant pink mojosurf bus. Certainly did a little to wake us up! We left at 7:30 for a 6.5 hour drive north to crescent head. It would have seemed longer if we all weren't so excited about the trip. After we'd all had a bit of get-to-know-each-other session the trip was nearly over, so we arrived at the surf camp, which was awesome, and within an hour were on our way down to the beach for surfing. But we'll get back to that. The surf camp itself was really good, everything was run off solar or wind power, loads of spaces for fires and parties, walking distance to the beach and in the middle of nowhere, right out in the bush. Awesome.
The surfing itself wasn't great cos it was our first lesson, more bailing than surfing in most cases :P. The first night after surfing we had a big party/fire which went on probably a bit too long, which we only realised the nextmorning at our 7:30 wake up call for surfing, plenty of bleary eyes that lesson! After the lesson we stayed out for another couple of hours and returned just in time for lunch, then had a couple of hours to chill, where everyone fell alseep, then another lesson which we stayed out on the waves for another couple of hours, then dinner, then partying. This cycle repeated itself all week, and beyond once we reached byron bay. On the second day between our surf lesson and lunch, about 6 of us had stayed behond even longer than usual so were the only ones walking back to camp at this point, when all of a sudden james shouted "Dolphins!" and ran into the sea and started swimming, the rest of gave him plenty of "yeah whatever mate, pull the other one!" until the wave broke.... And he was right, so everything was dropped and we followed him, swimming in the seas with noway of telling how deep the water was with 15-20 dolphins 10 metres away from you is certainly an expericne you wouldn't get at seaworld! So anyone that says that you have swam with dolphins, you are lying :P
Next surf spot was called, rather amusingly, SPOT X, like it was a surfing secret, despite the face it's right by a town and were staying on a caravn site with 3 other surf groups.... The journey to Spot X was more bring than the last, as everyone was alseep, and once we got there it was 6pm, so we hit dinner and the booze almost immediately, and when mixed with a cold the effects are more so. So as fun as the night was, surfing the next morning was a mission! But, i battled through and glad i did, becuase the waves we got that morning at Spot X were the best we had all week, the tide was in allowing the water to hit the reef and have a good half mile to build in intensity (the next two lessons we had there the tide was out so the wabes were crashing and dumping us a lot faster) we had 2 meter waves and were able to catch them because they were green waves (not breaking, just surging) unfortunately i only caught 3 or 4 of them and by the time the camera lady caught me the waves ahd subsided so all of my pictures look like i;m surfing 5 inch waves and look really pruod of myself, so now you know the reason! I also was one of 3 of our group who felt the energy to go on a kyak tour through the bush as well as all of our surfing (generally 6 hours a day on the waves, which is knackering! especially as we were partying afterwards as well) The most relaxing thing i did all week, perfectly still water, a tour guide who knew his stuff and the stillness of the bush. Awesome!
Our last surf lesson on friday morning was the probably the most boring thing anyone could watch, pretty much everyone was so tired the instructors were shouting "paddle paddle paddle!!" as the good waves came, and we'd do it properly 1 in 5 times, the other we'd be face down on the board tickling the water cos we couldn;t be bothered :P But guess what, we still went out that night :D That was in byron, and it probably helped that we had slept on the bus on the way up. But the first night in byron one of our surf instructors was playing in the band at the beach hotel, so that's where we partyed on down! The second night in bryon we were out in the infamous Cheeky Monkeys, where the tables are the dancefloor and the dancefloor is non-existant. What a night it was! although i personally didn't really drink, come 3am we'd had a thouroughly enjoyable night, and we also witnessed a fight in a bakery, which i bet not many people can claim :P
The next night we decided to be more cultured so we walked up the lighthouse to watch the sunset, we missed it from the top but probably got the better views of it along the walking track :P
Then we chillaxed on the beach all night! Which was an awesome last night with the guys, or i thought it was the last night.
The next day i got the bus To Brisbane which is where i shall leave this, as my time in the internet cfae has run out, so you'll hear about brisbane in my next blog!
Tara for now!

Lobster
Today was an excellent day of cricket. Wilson got his final 5 runs for his ton, and we passed 300 runs on the team total. A great start! And it got even better, frysie and bickers reduced the oppo to 4-4 and we looked sorted. However, they fought back, and fought back hard. Their number 5 scoring 50 and their number 6 scoring 100+. Once they reached 7-284 we were getting a bit scared (we scored 311) but yet again we got two quick wickets, and although the last wicket took a while they never looked like getting the runs. What made it even better was that the first team had one on the other pitch so a combined rendition of the team song was enjoyed by all, 22 men shouting it out must have sounded pretty awesome, or would have done if everyone knew the words....
I impressed myself as well, normally without bowling I get bored and gradually get quieter, but today i managed to keep my intensity up through the entire 72 overs, some of the first team commeneted on it saying that in the last stages when we looked like losing i was the only person keeping up the noise (every ball until the next one was bowled) I'm paying the price now though, it hurts to talk due to 5 and a half hours of shouting :S
I also aquired what is probably my favourite nickname i've ever had - 'Craig Lobster' Nothing to do with anything i've ever done but a story from australian radio, of which a seafood restaurant had had a lobster called craig in it's tank for 40 years and had become a local legend, until one day an animal welfare officer said it was cruel to keep poor old craig cooped up for 40 years, exactly 30 seconds after release into the wild, 'Craig Lobster' was eaten. So for the whole of today everyone was shouting "Great fielding lobster, using those pincers expertly!" "Don't fall over craig, we know you've only got spindly lobster legs, but still!" It also prompted many lobster signs to each other, which involved pointing both hands to the sky and pincing our hands together, occasioanlly making zoidberg noises, followed by fits of laughter
Offically the finniest non-related nickname ever!

Boop Be Doop
Well anyway, cricket on saturday was awesome team wise, we're 8-297 against warringah, which is an awesome position to go into the second day with. Personally, yet again i managed to get a start and not capitalise, i got to 6 and managed to get myself out, stupid game :P
Sunday i was staying with friends in bowral, and what was planned as a day visit ended up being a 3 day visit. It was such a nice weekend, i also got to visit the bradman museum, which as a cricket fanatic was awesome. I also tried out the replica of the famous "water tank and stump with a golfball" thing that only cricket fans will have heard of.
Since then i have been back in sydney doing not a lot, stuck in my own head and thinking about what to do in the future. I love it here and in some ways i've felt more at home playing cricket here than anywhere previously. That surely would be an incentive to stay here permanantly? I've already decided that i'm coming back for another season after university, but i'm slightly aprehensive that going back to my club at home will be a slight downer after such a good season.
But let's not dwell, 1 week until my travels and i am looking forward to it so much, as much as i don't want to leave sydney (only cos of cricket and the fact i'm settled into a routine (even if it;s a really boring routine)) i'm really looking forward to doing something different
Anywho, i'll be back soon
Stay cool

A lot has happened!
You have no idea how excited i am about it!
But, for the moment i'm bored out of my mind, without cricket to break the routine, i sit around with nothing to do! And when australian tv is as bad as it is it's not that fun! I've been thinking of some things to do however, what with booking all my travel i've some stuff to do this week, an today i went to the museum of contemporary art, which although only "entertained" me for an hour and a half, was something at least. The museaum was generally quite boring, as ar doesn't really interest me, however, one exhibit was marvoulous. It was the trippiest thing i've ever seen! Loads of mirors and colour and funs and made my mind spin. 2 or 3 rooms especially, called infinity rooms they were just mirrors on every wall and the ceiling, with stuff in the middle to make it seem like it goes on forever, the best of these was one with no light except 30 or 40 little christmas lights hanging form the ceiling, i spent about 5 minutes just standing there watching, and if i was a cartoon my eyes would have been swirling around and something like pink floyd playing in the background :P
Now, cricket news! Last week on saturday we only got 34 overs in when the rain hit, and believe me it was crazy rain, out outfield was completely underwater (and i mean completely soaked, 2 inches under water) in 10 minutes. Cricket wise i score 8 or 9, out LBW, Pfft. Sunday we got a whole game in, and started well, we bowled them out for 120 in 38 overs, and in reply got to 20-8. Personally i felt awesome but got myself playing a stupid shop, and my frustration was evident when i went about launching my kit ino the changing room from distance :S. We also had a social on saturday night, which was one of the best nights i've had here, lot's of meat and beer and laughs, so all good!
Anyway, that's about it for now, cya!

Options
If i was leaving the country entirely at the end of the cricket season i would be fine, i have more than enough money to survive that long, but i am here for another month after that. So, Option 1, i try to find a job for 4 weeks before i go travelling, unlikely but there is a chance i guess. Option 2, I leave sydney early (before the end of the cricket season) and travel now, which i don't want to do because i want to finish the season. Option 3, I Try to get my taxback from work (which i think/hope will be about $1500) and use that to pay or my travelling, use my bond from my apartment ($340) to pay for food while i'm travelling and then borrow the rest of my parent's money to supplemnt it.
Now, one option is ideal but unlikeley, one option is really not ideal but the easiest and one option is not ideal but managable and potentially easy but too much doubt to rely on it
Basically, i'm stuck in my head as to what to do. At home, no worries, i don't need to pay rent to live anywhere, but here it's a bit more difficult, i have enough money to survive, but not to do anything, so i would be stuck inside with nothing to do except cricket twice a week.
ARRRRRRRRRGGHH!!
I'm fed up
